Привет всем!
Выкладываю инфо по 2 темам воркшопов по параметрике, которые, я надеюсь, что смогу с божьей помощью организовать в Москве пригласив спецов из других стран.
Кому интересно это, пишите.
BEYOND SURFACE
Description:
In recent years computational architectural design has had a strong focus on surface representations. This seems to be driven as much by the designerly fascination for formal possibilities as the computational convenience and ease of representing complex geometries trough surfaces. Associative, parametric modeling and scripting provide a way for these surfaces to be articulated, subdivided and populated. The parametrised, component populated surface has emerged as an new archetype. This strong focus on the surface has often reduced architectural design to skinning, dressing up a building volume, while more complex issues of architectural and structural design are neglected.
Taking the parametrised, component populated surface as a starting point, this workshop explores design strategies that go beyond the surface. Parameters neglecdted by surface models - constuctability, mass, tactility, opaqueness, materiality, heaviness - are explored as a means to enrich computational design. With the proliferation of digital fabrication tools there is a need for a modelling process that incorporates the physical and teh material. This requires a deep understanding of the nature of digital modelling
Goal:
On the one hand it provides a look at what lies behind the surface of our digital design tools, giving insight in its algorithmic nature, on the other hand it wants to extend concepts in computational beyond surface representations of geometry.

DYNAMIC MODELS
Description:
Developments in design software have made programming increasingly accesible to designers, artists architects and students. This shifts the attention of the designer from modelling one design solution to design a tool, a dynamic and living model. Scripting languages have the advantage of sitting on top of complex 3D modelling software of which all the existing operations can be used. The disadvantage is that they are often black boxed - they don't allow a deep insight into what algorithms do.
Recently an alternative series of programming options has been made available: open ended, open source, media programming environments especially aimed at non-programmers: processing, openFrameworks, vvvv... etc. While they have a more steep learning curve, they allow for a much deeper insight into algorithmic basis of design. They provide designers, whith a way of making, light-weight, project specific modelling tools that can might fundamentally alter the way designers operate.
Goal:
This workshop will introduce processing as an open ended design design programming platform. Next to providing an introduction into programming concepts, we will discus the potential scenarios and impacts this will have on design.
